Ramasimha .B

Ramasimha has an M.Sc. in Material Science from Bangalore University. He currently works
at Prayoga as a Research Associate. His professional experience includes being a Research
Assistant in the Material Sciences division at the National Aerospace Laboratories,
Bengaluru and setting up the Physics department laboratories at the Indian Institute of
Technology, Gandhinagar from scratch. When not researching the utilization of open source
resources in enhancing science teaching and Science communication, he can be found amongst
books.

Sridevi .S

Sridevi has an M.Sc. in Electronics from Bangalore University. She currently works at
Prayoga as a Research Associate. Prior to working here, she worked as teacher at the BNM
school for two years. Her love for taking up exciting tasks and accomplishing them lead
her to be a part of Prayoga team. She also says that working at Prayoga boosts her inner
thirst to learn, grow and contribute to the field of science. She has a keen interest in
teaching and enjoys reading, singing, listening to music and making handicrafts.

Sowmya Praveen

Sowmya has a B.E. in Instrumentation Technology from Ambedkar Institute of Technology. She
currently works at Prayoga as a Research Associate. She has previously worked as a teacher
at different schools for 7 years. She is trained in the Montessori method of schooling.
Physics and Biology are her favourite areas. She is also very keen on child psychology and
different pedagogical approaches at the school level. Her hobbies include reading and
music.

Anasuya Sharma

Anasuya has a B.E. in Electronics and Communication from BNM Institute of Technology. She
pursued the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University where she obtained a PG Diploma in
Liberal Arts. While pursuing the fellowship, she undertook a project with a low-income
private school in rural Madhya Pradesh. Working there helped her discover her passion for
the education sector, where she intends to make a difference. Post the fellowship, she
worked as a Content Writer for 3 months before joining Prayoga as a Research Assistant.
She aspires to be a voracious reader, enjoys watching movies and TV shows, is an avid
follower of tennis and is a fiercely passionate performer, listener and connoisseur of
music.

Sukanya Ramani

Sukanya has a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from P.E.S Institute of Technology,
Bengaluru and a Master’s degree in Animal Behaviour, Evolutionary Biology and Neurobiology
from Bielefeld University, Germany. She currently works at Prayoga as a Research
Associate. For her Master’s thesis, she worked on birds, specifically house sparrows,
where she tried to find if relatedness between birds had an effect on aggression. She has
also worked on wasps in Indian Institute of Science as a summer fellow of Jawaharlal Nehru
Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. Research in Germany gave her an opportunity to
work with various animals like stick insects and zebra finches. Birds have been her
passion since long and still are, so, during free time, if you see a girl carrying a pair
of binoculars looking for birds, that's probably her!

Shesha Swaroop

Shesha Swaroop has a Bachelors in Business Administration, with 15 years of work
experience. He has been exposed to different roles and responsibilities in various domains
and departments viz; transcription/operation support/recruitment/vendor relations/close
captioning/subtitling. He presently works as the Admin at Prayoga. His other interests are
science fiction (especially time travel), history, and current affairs. He's also an
amateur cricket player and plays weekend cricket for the club “Spartans BSK”.

Dr. S. Athavan

Dr. S. Athavan Alias Anand received his Ph.D degree in Chemistry from Drug Discovery Lab,
Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. He continued his research in the Organic Chemistry
department at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for the Postdoctoral
program. He currently works as a Research Associate at Prayoga. His doctoral and
postdoctoral research work primarily focused on Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Drug
Design for human tumours and tuberculosis diseases. He has documented his research in
peer-reviewed international journals as an author and co-author. He was selected for
research fellowships sanctioned by the University Grants Commission and Department of
Science & Technology, New Delhi. He has delivered a number of oral presentations related
to his research and received best paper presentation awards from various Universities in
India. He has also mentored some Master degree students in their research projects. He
enjoys cooking and playing with chemicals.

Vinay B. R.

Vinay B.R. has a Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry from Bangalore University. He has
been involved in the field of chemistry teaching and research for over a decade now. His
teaching experience includes innovation-centric education and inclusive education. He is a
trained Teacher Developer from the Royal Society of Chemistry, London and has trained over
1000 teachers across various institutions. His interest in chemistry content development
led to his involvement in writing the middle- and high school chemistry curriculum for
Prayoga. He was also a part of question-paper-setting team for the International Junior
Science Olympiad. He has executed various research projects in the field of nanoscience
and synthetic organic chemistry. He has joined Prayoga in order to pursue his interest in
chemistry education research. He is an avid trekker who has trekked the Western Ghats and
the Himalayas. He has also done solo cycle rides in the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil
Nadu and Goa.

Akshay Kumar Y. S has studied 2nd PU with a combination of PCMB. He is currently an Office
Assistant at Prayoga. His hobbies include listening to songs, reading books, playing games

Anusha N.P.

Anusha has a Master’s degree in Physics, specialising in Condensed Matter physics, from
Kuvempu University, Shimoga. Subsequent to her Postgraduation, she worked as a project
assistant at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where she was responsible for
conducting experiments using High field Solid state NMR spectrometers.
She enjoys learning science along with kids who are always excited by their immense sense
of curiosity. She is interested in guiding students to learn the science behind phenomena
that manifest in their everyday life. She currently works at Prayoga as a Research
associate.
When she is not researching, she likes to travel to new places and explore the beauty of
nature. She is an athlete and has participated in state level sports competitions and has
won many prizes. She has developed interest in fine arts and also likes to play
traditional indoor and outdoor games.

B. R. Ravi

B.R. Ravi has an M.Com from Mysore University, with a Diploma in Commercial Practice and
Diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from Board of Technical Education.
Ravi has over 35 years of experience in the field of Administration and Facilities. He has
worked for multinational companies like Wilkinson Sword Ltd., Glaxo India Ltd, Comsat Max,
Astra IDL, General Electric and retired as the Associate Vice President at iGATE Global
Solutions Ltd. He has also worked with Oman National Transport Company (Ministry of
Transport & Communication), Muscat for a period of 4 years. During his 13 years stay at
iGATE, he took care of operations in India as well as the Australia and Mexico
centres.
Ravi is a certified Six Sigma holder and has contributed towards achieving CMM Level 5,
and also trained his employees on Six Sigma projects, Environment & Health Safety,
Business Continuity Plan & Disaster Recovery Plan. Apart from Admin & Facilities, he
headed the transport for 4000+ employees at GE and close to 7500 employees at iGATE. He
was given the responsibility of building 2 million sq ft of Infrastructure at iGATE across
India. Ravi is currently serving as the head of the Admin & Outreach at Prayoga.

Radhika L. K.

Science has been Radhika's favourite subject since childhood, and that made her continue
her education in pure science. Radhika has a Masters degree (M.Sc) in Physics from
Bangalore University. She worked at CAOS, Indian Institute of Science, as a Project
Assistant for a few months and later started teaching. Radhika has worked in National
College as a Lecturer in Physics for Class 11 and Class 12 students. For her, teaching or
learning only the theoretical aspects of science doesn't make sense, and she would like to
perform experiments to get a proper understanding of science. She currently works a
Research Associate at Prayoga. She hopes that Prayoga gives her opportunities that trigger
her creativity and make her a good thinker. Apart from her career, Radhika love animals,
listening to music, painting, photography and making art crafts. She spends her free time
reading books. Writing poems is one of her hobbies.

Manasa Sharma

Manasa is a graduate from St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) and holds a Bachelor of
Science degree, with a triple major in Biotechnology, Chemistry and Zoology. For her term
paper, she has worked on Probiotic bacteria and antibiotic resistance. She has also worked
on a short project concerning Endophytic interactions in Cacti. She wants to work in the
field of Science communication and Science journalism. She currently works at Prayoga. In
her free time, she obsessively makes to-do lists and listens to Coldplay. She is a typical

Vaishnavi Bhat

Vaishnavi has a Master's degree in Biochemistry. The project she worked on during the time
was - 'Evaluation of invitro antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity of
Artocarpus heterophyllus and Litchi chenensis'. She has published two research papers on
the same.
She has been teaching for the past one year and enjoys the company and knowledge follow.
She currently works at Prayoga as Research Associate. She is an animal lover and loves
spending time outdoors in nature. She also happens to be very passionate about reading,
craft and outdoor sports.

Pratistha Agarwal

Pratistha obtained her Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Dehradun and Master's
degree in Molecular Biology from Bangalore University. As a part of her research project,
she worked on 'Isolation, Characterization and Identification of Bacteria by 16S rRNA Gene
Sequencing'. Before joining Prayoga, she served at Vedantu Innovations for a short period
of time as a Doubt Expert. She currently works at Prayoga as a Research Associate.
As much as she loves her field of study, she is also interested in other things. She is an
avid reader and travel enthusiast who enjoys nature. She looks forward to creating a

Dr. Prathik Cherian

Dr. Prathik did his Ph.D. in Quantum Information Theory from the Institute of Mathematical
Sciences, Chennai. Prior to that, he pursued an undergraduate degree in Physics from St.
Stephen's College, Delhi.
Over the course of his Ph.D. tenure, he started developing an interest in teaching
physics. Ultimately, that has led him to pedagogical research in science education and to
Prayoga. Through the work in Prayoga, he hopes to create a meaningful impact on science
pedagogy in India. He is also very keen on science communication as he views better
engagement of the larger public with science as being critical to society.
He is also an enthusiastic photographer, traveler and a sports fanatic of the wear-your-
heart-on-your-sleeve persuasion.

Dr. Subhadip Senapati

Dr. Subhadip Senapati has completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Arizona State University, and postdoctoral research from Case Western Reserve University. During his doctoral and postdoctoral studies, he worked on different projects trying to understand the structures and functions of different biomolecules primarily using atomic force microscopy. During the course of his PhD, he taught general chemistry and organic chemistry courses to undergraduate students, and became interested in teaching, and creating academic contents. He also mentored MSc and PhD students in the past few years.
He loves travelling, and enjoys sports and music.

Dr. Manpreet Kaur

Dr. Manpreet Kaur has completed her Ph.D. in Chemistry (Chemical Crystallography) from the University of Mysore, Mysuru, followed by 3 years of postdoctoral experience as a Postdoctoral Teaching/Research Associate at Keene State College and Florida International University in the USA. She started tutoring middle and high school students since her master studies, followed by serving as a part time chemistry faculty at BASE, Mysuru for the Foundation in Science and Technology program during the entire course of her PhD. Her experience being a teacher in various capacities in two different countries has exposed her to the different pedagogical tools and methods employed to enhance student learning in diverse environments, and an opportunity to interact with students with diverse backgrounds. All these enriching experiences have led her to be part of the chemical education research at Prayoga.
Things that hold her interest outside of work are plants, stand-up comedy, shows/movies that need subtitles, human psychology/behaviour and zumba.

Dr. Venkata Krishna

Dr. Venkata Krishna pursued his post graduate degree in Microbiology from Dayananda Sagar College, Bangalore. He has completed his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, and has the credit of qualifying National Eligibility Test (NET). He is a life member of the Society of Biological Chemists (SBC, India).
Dr. Krishna's doctoral research work primarily focused on treatment of Jaundice and microbial degradation of environmentally toxic dyes. He has documented his research in 13 peer-reviewed national and international journals as an author and co-author, and participated in several national and international conferences and workshops. He has delivered a number of poster and oral presentations related to his research and received the 'Best Paper Presentation' award from Reva University. He has also mentored undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research projects.
During the course of his academics, he taught Microbiology, Biotechnology and Nursing courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and became interested in teaching and creating academic content. Over the course of his Ph.D., he started developing an interest in teaching Biology. Ultimately, that has led him to pedagogical research in science education and to Prayoga.

Justice M. N. Venkatachalaiah

Justice Dr. M. N. Venkatachaliah was the 25th Chief Justice of India
(1993-1994). He served as the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (1996-1998 and
2000). He also headed the National Commission for reviewing the Constitution of India. He
is the recipient of the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest Civilian
Award.
Justice Venkatachaliah began practicing general in 1951. He was appointed as the
Permanent Judge of High Court of Karnataka from 6th November 1975. He was appointed Judge
of the Supreme Court of India from 5th October 1987. He was appointed by Shankar Dayal
Sharma as the 25th Chief Justice of India from 12th February 1993 to 24th October 1994. He
was preceded by L. M. Sharma and succeeded by A. M. Ahmadi. Justice Venkatachaliah was
the 2nd Chairman National Human Rights Commission (26th November 1996 – 24th October
1999). He also served as the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (1996-1998). He
also worked on the anti-corruption and human rights issues.
Justice Manepalli Narayana Rao Venkatachaliah Commission known as the National Commission
was established to find the working of the Constitution (NCRWC). This was set up by a
resolution of the NDA Government of India led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee (22nd February
2000). The main objective was to make possible amendments to the Constitution of India.
The report was submitted in 2002.
In 2003, Justice Venkatachaliah supported the launching of the Initiatives of Change
Centre for Indian Governance. He was on the Advisory Board of Foundation for Restoration
of National Values. This is a society established in 2008 that was meant to restore as the
national and cultural values of India.
Presently, Justice Venkatachaliah serves as the Chancellor of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of
Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam (Deemed University) which is a Modern Gurukula where
the teacher-student interaction occurs in the process of Integral Education. The
dimensions include Intellectual, Cultural, Physical, Service, and Devotional.

Prof. T. N. Guru Row

A pioneer in the field of crystallography in India and an authority
worldwide, T. N. Guru Row is a Professor in the department of Solid State and Structural
Chemistry Unit at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He has a B.Sc (Hons) in
Physics and an M.Sc in Solid state physics from Bangalore University, and a Ph.D from
IISc, Bengaluru.
Through decades of groundbreaking research, he has made significant
contributions in the fields of Chemical Crystallography and Materials Design. Prof. Guru
Row is a distinguished member of several prestigious scientific academies, such as the
International Center for Diffraction Data and Fellow of The Indian Academy of Sciences. He
has also been an Associate Editor of RSC Advances, a journal published by the Royal
Society of Chemistry, UK.
Among his several accolades are the Young Scientist award from CSIR, the
Medal from the Chemical Research Society India (CRSI), the Prof Y.T. Thathachari
Prestigious Research Award for Science and the J.C. Bose Fellowship 2010-2015.
His incredible 364 publications till date are a testament to his
contributions to the scientific community. He has also been instrumental in guiding 17 PhD
students and 9 Master’s students.
Bridging the gap between research and real-life, Prof. Row has taken a
keen interest in improving science learning at the school level and has agreed to share
his immense wealth of knowledge with Prayoga.
Dr. S. N. Omkar

Dr. S. N. Omkar is working as the Chief Research Scientist (CRS) at the
Department of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. He has a B.E
in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University, M.Sc and Ph.D in Aerospace
Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.
His research interests include Satellite image processing, Biomechanics,
Yoga, Uninhabited Air Vehicles (UAV), and nature-inspired algorithms. Dr. Omkar heads the
Computational Intelligence lab, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles lab and the Biomechanics lab.
He is also pursuing several projects and research work in the area of image processing and
UAVs. He has developed a number of algorithms and used them for a variety of applications
like road extraction, flood assessment, crop classification, crop growth analysis, etc.
The other facet of Omkar’s research includes composite design optimization using nature
inspired techniques. He has also pioneered in using biomechanics for aerospace
applications. This is of significance in the light of the country’s interest in human
space mission. He has established a laboratory facility towards this.
Dr. Omkar has more than 130 journal publications, has presented papers in
more than 100 conferences, which include both national and international conferences. Till
date, he has imparted training to more than 1000 interns. He is also a member of many
academic committees. He has introduced many courses at IISc. He has conducted several
workshops and outreach programs for students. He is also a celebrated practitioner and
teacher of Yoga. Dr. Omkar has been conferred the Karnataka State Rajyothsava Award from
the Government of Karnataka and the Kempegowda Award from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara
Palike for his contributions in the field of Yoga.
M. P. Kumar

Mr. M.P. Kumar is an entrepreneur and a leader with diverse expertise in
nurturing and growing companies profitably with great concern for society and culture. He
is Founder, Chairman and CEO of Global Edge Software Ltd (founded in 1992, has over1200
employees), a leading embedded software and solutions company operating out of Bangalore,
Hyderabad (India) and Milpitas (USA). He has been a hands-on technology professional,
worked in several companies including UBM (Ultra Business Machines), Srujana Technology
and KSSIDC.He is a post graduate in science from Bangalore University, India.
He brings over three decades of IT industry experience in growing high technology
companies. He is aAngel Investor and has invested in technology and social impact startup
companies. He mentors for young entrepreneurs and help several companies to prosper
including Adamya Group Companies, iNabling Technology, Pico Mobile, Aseema Softnet
Technologies, iSol Softech, etc, His key strengths include starting companies, rise VC
funding, serving professional board and merging companies. He has keen interest in
incubating IP development in India for licensing to global companies and help companies to
manufacture niche technology end products for Indian and global market.
He has served on several Government committees/ task forces such as Karnataka Vision
Group, Karnataka State Innovation Council and Karnatak eGovernece Task Force. He is also
associated with industry bodies like Indian Angel Network, TiE Bangalore, ISA (Indian
Semiconductor Association) and Nasscom India.
He has an unrivaled concern for the society and culture He has been guiding and

Balakrishna Adiga

Balakrishna Adiga is a senior IT industry professional, angel investor and mentor for technology start-ups. He was with IBM for over 20 years where his last position was Director - Strategic Outsourcing Sales. After IBM, he joined Savvis Communications (now CenturyLink Inc) as Managing Director - India. He advises start-ups and is on board of several technology companies in India as well as abroad.
Dr. Nagasuma Chandra

Nagasuma Chandra is a molecular systems biologist and bioinformatician and
works on modelling complex biological processes and applying them to study human health
and disease. She received her PhD from the University of Bristol in 1992. She is currently
a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Indian Institute of Science and
additionally affiliated with Bioengineering and Mathematical biology initiatives at the
Institute.
She has over 160 publications in international journals of high standing, she holds
several research grants, serves on national and international committees and interacts
extensively with the industry. She is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences.
Her work involves an integration of structural biology, bioinformatics and systems
biology, navigating upwards in a systems-scale with structural-level resolution, for
studying several aspects of disease diagnosis, mechanisms and drug treatment. A
contribution from her work is to decipher an emergent vulnerability in drug resistance in
mycobacteria and identification of a strategic drug combination that tackles the mechanism
and reverses resistance. Another contribution is the discovery of biomarker signatures for
tuberculosis and cancer. Her group has developed a suite of algorithms, which detect,
match and align binding sites in protein structures, useful for probing new ideas in drug
discovery. She has also contributed to theoretical immunology and has shown for the first
time that large populations can be grouped into a few response-types, useful for
predicting disease susceptibility.
Dr. H. S. Nagaraja

A distinguished educationist, forever-committed teacher, philanthropist, board member
of several organisations and a responsible social citizen, Dr. Nagaraja’s journey is a
remarkable story of a self-made man, his indomitable will and enterprise to build
organisations that deliver enduring value and institutions that serve society at all
levels.
Prayoga is the manifestation of HSN’s long-held belief that science should be learnt in an
exploratory, hands-on and experiential way. HSN also believes that compartmentalisation of
Science into Physics, Chemistry and Biology was a result of limitations of human
comprehension, and that nature, by itself, is wholesome and holistic. Students should be
unburdened from these restrictions and be allowed to explore science to its fullest. It is
this philosophy that inspired the setting up of Prayoga and drives it forward to this
day.

B. R. NAGARAJ

Mr. Nagaraj B. R. is a philanthropist with an exceptional societal concern. Some of his notable engagements include the Shankara Cancer Foundation & Research Hospital (Bengaluru), where he is a Trustee, and Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (HD Kote), etc.
He has a B.E. in Civil Engineering from UVCE, Bangalore, a PG Diploma RBPM from Pune University, RPA from the Building Owners and Managers Institute, Maryland, USA, Master's in Corporate Real Estate from Corenet, USA, and a Senior Leadership Certificate in Real Estate 2014- 2016, Corenet, USA. He is part of the co-founding team of 3 start-ups which are into Technology/Services.
Nagaraj has previously worked with leading corporates like Wipro, Lucent Technologies, SAP Labs India Pvt. Ltd. in various capacities such as General Manager and Vice-President, and as Regional Director with Google India Pvt. Ltd., being responsible for infrastructure services for India and South East Asia. Currently, he works for the US-based Target Corporation India Pvt Ltd as Director- CRE.
Vallish Herur

Vallish has a Masters degree in Computing and has worked in the field of education for 18
years. He has served as Director of BASE Educational Services since its inception where he
has helped grow the organisation’s capability and size.
He has worked in designing and developing training programs at school-level related to
curricular and life skills. He has special interest in content development and and in use
of technology in education. Vallish is also involved in supporting a homeschooling
community.
His other interests include Indian classical percussion, bird watching, wildlife
photography, history and philosophy.
Praveen .S
